SundaeSwap finally announced the date of their DEX’s Mainnet. The Cardano DEX said via their blog that SundaeSwap “will launch as a fully-functional beta decentralized exchange (DEX)” on the evening of January 20th.
Although they didn’t specify a time for the mainnet launch, apparently the launch will be taking place in EST. Check back for a more precise time — at least we know the time zone!
According to SundaeSwap, the DEX is still in Beta for the launch, in part to keep expectations in line: “We are launching with a Beta label because, while the DEX’s smart contracts have been fully audited and the DEX will meet all industry standards for security, the implementation of fully decentralized governance will not be immediately possible due to existing transaction size limits on the Cardano blockchain.”
SundaeSwap also announced the dates for their first yield farming awards (January 20th) and ISO (January 25th). For more details on yield farming and the ISO check out their blog — where they go into excruciating detail.

What This Means For Cardano?
One thing is for sure, is that it’s good news for Cardano lovers and haters alike.
For Cardano stans, this brings the reality of a DEX on Cardano one step closer. You’re probably thinking wait, isn’t this a DEX and it’s a Mainnet? Like the team outlined in their blog, orders on the DEX are going to terribly backlogged. Meaning, it’s gonna take an incredibly long time to process orders.
How is that a good thing? Because, this isn’t a feature or a bug. It’s just yet another step as has been outlined in the Cardano roadmap. Cardano DEX’s won’t be able to scale until the implantation of Hydra, which is expected some time in 2022.
By now — if you’re still a Cardano stan — time should be meaningless to you by now. Just stay patient and ignore the Bitcoin maxis that are completely oblivious to how similar smart contract are going to look on Bitcoin — if they ever get there.
For Cardano haters, this is a good thing because, like I laid out, it’s going to take a while until DEXes on Cardano function as intended. Unfortunately, if Hydra is successful the goalposts will have moved too far for anyone to take you seriously, but you can worry about that then. For now, enjoy telling Cardano fans to HFSP. Knowing Cardano, you still have some time to laugh at your own Tweets.
