NFL Players Are Shilling DeFi Kingdoms Now?

DeFi Kingdoms isn’t just a niche blockchain game anymore; it’s gotten NFL players to start farming in liquidity pools too.

  • JEWEL Price Update

The crypto markets are looking green today after Bitcoin broke above $43,000. However, a recent sell-off from DeFi Kingdoms (JEWEL) has investors questioning its recovery. Now that the JEWEL cat is out of the bag, though, it looks like the blockchain game has gone beyond DeFi fanatics to catch the attention of professional athletes, which could just serve as a glimpse into a much brighter future for the project.

Steelers Tight End Shouts Out DeFi Kingdoms

Steelers Tight End Eric Ebron just shouted out DeFi Kingdoms today… it makes you wonder how deep the NFL (and every other major sports league) is into crypto already.

Seeing DeFi Kingdoms getting shouted out by an NFL player is an exciting, but not unexpected, development for the game. I think it further validates the goal of the team at DeFi Kingdoms: to make DeFi a fun experience for the average user. Not everyone, and certainly not NFL players, have time to go learn about yield farming, staking, and sift through hundreds of different DeFi projects offering countless liquidity pools. Anyone would love the idea of compounding their money, but most people would like to do it in a familiar way.

DeFi Kingdoms has achieved just that by “gamifying” the traditional DeFi experience.

The beauty of a “pixelated clicking game” is in its simplicity — it’s much easier to understand staking when you slap a virtual bank on top of the interface.

NFL players have already “gamified” the working world by turning a sport they’ve played since they were a kid into a lucrative source of income. I’d imagine then that a gamified DeFi experience would be right up any gamer’s alley — whether that’s a video game player or a physical sports player. They don’t need to take the time to understand how DeFi works, they can simply use DeFi Kingdoms to benefit from it in a more familiar way.

Price Action Update

DeFi Kingdoms has a long roadmap ahead. As highlighted earlier, Ebron tuned into the blockchain game just before the upcoming launch of Crystalvale, DeFi Kingdom’s next major upgrade, which is set to bring a new expansion of the map, quests, in-game items, and other gamified DeFi opportunities.

Despite the bright future for the roadmap, early JEWEL entrants used the most recent price pump to take some profits after a hot run-up. From its initial launch in August 2021 under $0.10, JEWEL skyrocketed to $22.50 before rolling over.

At the time of writing, JEWEL is trading at $14.52.

It looks like JEWEL has found itself caught back in a range between $12-$15. The relative strength index (RSI), which measures the overbought and oversold conditions of an asset, was running hot since December but has now retraced to more sustainable levels.

In the short term for JEWEL, I’d expect the current range to hold assuming Bitcoin holds strong, granting a more bullish outlook for the entire market. However, if there’s still more turbulence ahead before Bitcoin finds a bottom, keep an eye on $10 and $6 as potential accumulation levels.

We’ll have to see how 2022 plays out for the ~$1 billion in locked liquidity stored in the JEWEL gardens, but with so much long-term support from the community and professional athletes now starting to take notice, JEWEL could have a good shot of keeping center stage in crypto gaming.
