Terra Proposes Sports Partnership To DAO With UST Adoption

Do Kwon of Terra proposes sports partnership with a major franchise. Though, it will be up to the community DAO now to decide whether they go ahead with the anonymous sports franchise partnership.

Terra Sports Partnership Proposal

Do Kwon, founder of Terra, tweeted out a Community Funding Proposal late last night that’s asking the Terra DAO for almost 38.15 million USD from the community pool in order to acquire a sponshorship deal with a major sports franchise. The major sports franchise was not provided in the proposal — thanks to a CIA-style heavily redacted document.

“We are requesting from the community to provide $38.15 million USD to the {REDACTED} franchise (the “Franchise”) from the community pool to fund a 5-year exclusive partnership deal to promote the Terra brand across various parts of its home Venue and its TV network as one of its leading partners,” Kwon said in the proposal.

Naming Rights To What Exactly

The 5 year deal calls for the brand to be promoted across the mystery team’s venue as well as through its TV network.

However, the partnership is not for the naming rights to the team’s arena ala Crypto.com’s deal with the Los Angeles Lakers. Terra says the deal will include their logo featured prominently in the area, as well as the naming rights to the arena’s “premium club.”

Kwon says the brand deal will give their project “exposure to the most valuable non-naming rights that a sports franchise can offer.”

UST Adoption

On UST adoption, Kwon doesn’t have any specific agreed upon in the deal, but pointed out that a sponsorship deal with lead to discussions because, “The Franchise is a leader in deploying venue technology to drive the fan experience.”

Moreover, Kwon added, “Once the partnership is approved, we will begin discussions to implement UST as an accepted currency in venue transactions.”

It’s unclear if this is tacked on to make the proposal more attractive or not. The feasibility of this really depends on which team is involved.

Terra Sports Partnership DAO Vote

The vote is expected some time on Thursday and will be on chain, according to Kwon. Unfortunately, the community will have to approve the deal without knowing which team it is.

For now, they have to rely on Kwon’s description which amounts to the team being  “legendary” and a member of one of the four major professional leagues — which makes this mystery franchise one of 124 teams.

Here’s hoping the Terra community — if they indeed pass the proposal — isn’t as disappointed as Homer Simpson was by Hank Scorpio’s parting gift.
