CryptoMotors: An Asphalt-like Arcade Racing Game on Blockchain. What We Know So Far

Once ‘Battle Racers‘ was discontinued, questions about the other racing games on blockchain became more prominent. Surfing the internet in search of hidden gems, I bumped into a black car. This car was the face of a new racing game based on blockchain, CryptoMotors.’

As soon as I saw a video of the gameplay, the first thought that crossed my mind was: “this is ‘Asphalt‘ but play-to-earn.” Indeed, a vivid neon graphical style and arcade racing mechanics were the sparks for such a comparison.

On the other hand, the futuristic environment and somewhat quirky-designed cars reveals that the fact that the game also took conceptual inspiration from the ‘F-Zero’ series by Nintendo, especially ‘F-Zero GX’ which was released on GameCube.

The developers recently launched the alpha test version of the game in order to gather feedback from players. In the whitepaper, they promise four game modes for the final version: track racing, off-road racing, drifting, and drag racing.

Each car will have unique stats for speed, acceleration, handling, grip, braking, cooldown, and generation. The developers are also hosting a creative design contest for fans to submit their own futuristic car designs.

Personally, I would like to see the developers implement tuning mechanics, similar to that found in ‘Need for Speed: Underground,’ and a large arsenal of weapons, such as in the ‘Mario Kart’ series by Nintendo.
