GameStop Files Wallet Trademark; Loopring Pops Off

GameStop keeps making inroads in its cryptocurrency strategy, while Loopring pops off.

GameStop Wallet Trademark

GameStop quietly filed a trademark application with the USPTO. The trademark according to the application, “consists of the term GameStop with the term WALLET underneath in all capital letters. There is the design of a wallet to the left of both terms.”

The application also includes a design of the logo.

The application was made on March 23rd, the same day that Loopring announced that the GameStop NFT marketplace will be built on top of the Ethereum layer-2 solution.

The announcement created some confusion because of Immutable X’s involvement. However, it’s been since clarified that Immutable X is the play-to-earn steward, while Loopring’s tech will be used to build out the marketplace.

Based on the arrangement, the wallet will be built on Loopring. As of right now, wallets like MetaMask can be connected to the marketplace. No word yet on what exactly an official GameStop wallet will comprise.

Loopring Pops Off

The crypto market is rebounding nicely to close out March. Loopring, however, is one of the strongest performers of late.

Unlike its GameStop co-partner Immutable X — which dumped shortly after its announcement — Loopring is showing legs with a 50% rise in the last seven days. Off the news of the wallet trademark, Loopring is up 15% in the last 24 hours. It’s currently trading in the $1.25 USD range.
