A Little Bit About Polygon
If you’ve spent any time in the crypto space this year, you’ve probably heard of Polygon by now. And if by some chance you haven’t, then I bet you’ve used it and didn’t even realize you were doing so.
Polygon is most known for being a layer-2 solution for Ethereum’s high gas fees. So the protocol is used to work around a lot of those pesky gas fees everyone loves to complain about when cashing out their PFP profits. For example, the most popular NFT marketplace globally, OpenSea, integrated Polygon to help mitigate the costs associated with the Ethereum Network.
In fact, Polygon does such an excellent job at being a layer-2 that Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin has even taken some swipes at the rival.
But, Polygon isn’t just a scaling solution. It’s a capable chain on its own, which features several exciting projects that prove the scalability of the Polygon Network.

QuickSwap
QuickSwap is the biggest DEX on Polygon. It’s a self-described clone of the Ethereum-based Uniswap DEX because it offers the same liquidity model. The only significant difference between the DeFi Protocols — other than token availability — is that QuickSwap utilizes Polygon, so those incredibly high gas fees aren’t a problem.
To put it in perspective for you, you can buy 50 bucks of a risky memecoin and only have to pay a tiny fee to do so. Using QuickSwap gives you a lot more flexibility and a lot less downside if the latest “Doge Killer” dumps on you.
All kidding aside, QuickSwap is an excellent example of decentralized finance: financially available to everyone, not just Ethereum ICO investors.

Autograph
Autograph is Tom Brady’s much-ballyhooed entrance into the NFT Game. His NFT platform allows creators to “add digital signatures to non-fungible tokens. Anyone with a Twitter account can sign an NFT and offer financial incentives in exchange for signatures from other Twitter users.” Essentially, it brings the thrill of getting someone’s autograph on-chain.
Though, not immediately obvious as a Polygon-based marketplace, the sports-themed Autograph very much utilizes the smart contract protocol. Autograph is partnered with Draft Kings and requires signing up with the sports gambling site. However, the marketplace itself is built on top of Polygon. Draft Kings just helps sign up, KYC.
The relationship with Autograph has gone so well, it has led to more mainstream adoption for the smart contract protocol. For example, the aforementioned Draft Kings and Polygon have entered into an ongoing partnership for more Polygon-based marketplaces in the future.
Chicken Derby
Chicken Derby is one of the first blockchain games to have been built exclusively on Polygon. Having learned the hard lessons through the struggles of fellow racing game Zed Run, Bitlovin built the game on the much faster Polygon.
Specifically, Polygon isn’t just faster transaction-wise; it also allows for faster, better gameplay. While using the Ethereum network Zed Run suffered many issues that continue to plague Ethereum-based games developing on the clogged chain.
Chicken Derby is regularly a top 5 game on Polygon without having officially released its game. The Chicken racing game is currently in private beta, which is going smoothly according to the development blog.
