Toys”R”Us joins a growing list of mainstream retailers diving into the NFT Game.

Toys”R”Us, not to be confused with CryptosRus, announced the release of their first NFT collection today. The beloved toy retailer is partnering with Ethernity, an NFT-focused chain built on Ethereum.

• The collection, “features the iconic IP of the Toys”R”Us brand including the one and only Geoffrey the Giraffe,” according to their press release.
• “As we continue to invest in the growth of the brand, entering the blockchain signifies a momentous step into the future…” said Yehuda Shmidman, CEO of Toys “R” Us.
• The collection features the work of digital artist Bryan Lopez, otherwise known as Exacto. It will include the 1-1 piece entitled, “The Geoffrey Stroll” featuring the iconic giraffe strutting his stuff in 3D. The 1-1 will be auctioned after the rest of Toys “R” Us’s collection drops.
• Moreover, the NFT collection comes at a time when the iconic retailer is working to get back into the US market. The company announced its bankruptcy back in 2017.
• However, Toys “R” Us was the victim of the private equity practice of stripping companies for its parts, not necessarily due to unviability.
• Back in August, the retailer brokered a deal with department store Macy’s. The partnership will put 400 Toys “R”Us-branded toy shops in Macy’s locations across America. The  shops are expected some time in 2022.
• Ethernity continues to add to its list of big-name partnerships. The ERC-20 token now boasts projects with pro skater Tony Hawk; NBA hall of famer Shaquille O’Neal; and the almost Zuckerbergs, the Winklevi twins.
