Dogecoin Trailmap Promises World Domination

Dogecoin finally has a roadmap trailmap. Much utility. Very adoption. So excite. But does a satirical crypto really need one? And, how stoked is Elon right now?

The Dogecoin Foundation announced the first part of its Trailmap yesterday that sets the much-beloved crypto on a very specific path for the first time in its history. “This Trailmap represents a dog-walk the Dogecoin Foundation is committed to exploring and that we believe will contribute to Dogecoin’s success,” The Foundation said via their blog.

  • Just in case you need it spelled out, that’s the DOGE version of what the more pretentious projects call a “roadmap.” The foundation eschewed convention because the term “… conveys a rigid way forward, led by a single company or ‘lead.’“
  • They added, “it is important that Dogecoin remains a decentralised project with shepherds rather than rulers” Editor’s note: Love the use of Shepherds.
  • A roadmap is used to convey the order of things, so to speak. What a project says it will do, and in what order, can be a good window into how good the team behind a project really is.
  • The Trailmap marks the first focused set of ideas for the future of the currency since its inception back in 2012. Famously, Dogecoin had no plan when it first launched other than to skewer what had become a market overloaded with Bitcoin ripoffs.
  • The Trailmap calls for, among other things, the incorporation of Proof-of-Stake using Ethereum. This will allow not just miners to participate in the rewards of securing the network.
  • There is no official timeline for when any of this will occur, but the projects are expected to start in 2022.
  • One part of the Trailmap is low key terrifying sounding — especially for DOGE: “There was a time when most of the ‘known world’ accepted a universal currency, minted by Rome. A Denarius, ‘about a day’s wages’ had one thing going for it: you could spend it anywhere in the empire to satisfy your wants or needs, it had utility. A Denarius had no smart contracts, no scriptability, no DAPPs, and yet this coin once controlled the world. We believe Dogecoin is on a similar trajectory…”
