Ross Ulbricht NFTs Make Bitcoin Maxi’s Very Upset

Ross Ulbricht announced the other day that he’s releasing a set of NFTs. The NFTs will feature his own artwork created during his childhood and up to his time in prison.  Proceeds will go to ART4GIVING charity and for Ulbricht’s legal costs.

Ross Ulbricht is currently serving two life sentences for his role in the infamous Silk Road marketplace which used Bitcoin to settle black market transactions.

The announcement was met with derision from the Bitcoin maxi community. Most of it verbally unfit to embed on this pg-13 news site. Here’s a taste of the more palatable stuff — had to screenshot to avoid accidentally displaying a profanity-laced reply.

The hyperemotional reaction from the maxis is surprising considering Ulbricht is a cause célèbre of the Bitcoin community. Ulbricht’s taped message from prison left very few hard money lovers dry-eyed at Bitcoin 2021.

Apparently, though, Ross Ulbricht < hating Ethereum.

I guess on one hand you gotta admire the single-minded adherence to a digital currency, but on the other hand, you absolutely don’t. Ethereum is able to do things Bitcoin can’t. Even with Taproot, Bitcoin is just repicating the more centralized-ish aspects of EThereum it hates — tbdex anyone? 

But maybe this random user is onto something. Maybe this whole thing is a CIA psyop.

It’s at least a way to rationalize the irrational.
