Bitcoin Forms Death Cross & TD-9 Sell Signal: Brace For Impact?

An analyst has explained how Bitcoin is forming both a death cross and TD sell signal, which may lead to potential dips in these targets. Bitcoin Looking In Trouble As 12-Hour Chart Forms Two Bearish Signals In a new post on X, analyst Ali discussed two signals that have recently formed in Bitcoin’s 12-hour chart. The first of these is a “death cross,” which occurs when an asset’s short-term simple moving average (SMA) dips below its long-term SMA. Related Reading: Bitcoin Whales Continue Buying, Now Hold 25.16% Of All Supply Regarding the death cross, the 50-day and 100-day SMAs make up for the short-term and long-term trend lines. Historically, such formations have been considered bearish signals, with the price potentially suffering once the pattern is confirmed. The other signal that has appeared for the cryptocurrency involves the Tom Demark (TD) Sequential. This indicator is popularly used for finding locations of probable tops and bottoms in any asset’s price. The TD Sequential has two phases: the “setup” and “countdown.” The first phase, the setup, is said to be complete once the asset has gone through nine candles of the same polarity. After these nine candles, the price may have reached a likely reversal point. Naturally, if the candles in the setup’s formation were red, then the signal would be a buy one, while if the prevailing trend were bullish, the reversal would be towards the downside. Once the setup is complete, the countdown phase begins. This phase works much like the setup, except that candles are counted up to thirteen instead of nine. After the countdown’s completion, the commodity may be assumed to have reached another potential top/bottom. Now, here is the chart shared by Ali that highlights how signals about both of these technical analysis patterns have been witnessed in the 12-hour price of Bitcoin recently: The two signals that the 12-hour BTC price has formed in recent days | Source: @ali_charts on X As is visible in the graph, the 12-hour price of Bitcoin first saw a death cross form with the 50-day SMA moving under the 100-day SMA. Then, it observed the completion of a TD Sequential setup, with the indicator suggesting a reversal to the downward direction. Since this double bearish pattern has appeared, BTC has been heading down, suggesting that these signals may already be in effect. “If BTC falls below $63,300, brace for possible dives to $61,000 or even $59,000,” says the analyst. From the current price of the cryptocurrency, a potential drawdown to the first of these targets would mean a decline of 4.6%, while one to the latter level would suggest a drop of nearly 8%. BTC Price So far, Bitcoin has managed to prevent falls under the $63,300 target listed by the analyst, as it currently floats around $64,000. 95% Of Bitcoin Now In Profit: Why This Could Be A Signal To Sell

On-chain data shows the Bitcoin supply in profit has reached levels that led to some tops in the past, like the peak of the April 2019 rally. Bitcoin Supply In Profit Has Shot Up Following BTC’s Latest Run As pointed out by an analyst in a CryptoQuant Quicktake post, Bitcoin supply in profit has hit very high levels after the asset’s latest rally. The “supply in profit” here refers to a metric that measures the percentage of the total circulating BTC supply that’s currently carrying some amount of unrealized gain. This indicator works by going through the transaction history of each coin (more precisely, each UTXO) on the blockchain to see what price it was last moved at. Assuming that the previous transfer of the coin was the last time it changed hands, the price at that instance would act as its current cost basis. Related Reading: Ethereum Leaves Bitcoin Behind, But Is This Rally Sustainable? As such, if the previous transfer price for any coin was less than the spot value of the cryptocurrency right now, then that particular coin would be holding a profit currently. The supply in profit sums up all such coins and calculates what percentage of the total supply they make up for. A counterpart indicator called the “supply in loss” does the same for coins of the opposite type (that is, those with a cost basis lower than the current price). This metric’s value can also simply be found by subtracting the supply in profit from 100 (since the total supply must add up to 100%). Now, here is a chart that shows the trend in the Bitcoin supply in profit over the past few years: The value of the metric seems to have been going up in recent days | Source: CryptoQuant As displayed in the above graph, the Bitcoin supply in profit has naturally shot up recently as the asset’s price has gone through its rally. After the latest continuation of the run towards the $57,000 level, the metric has hit the 95% mark. This means that 95% of all UTXOs in existence is carrying a profit at the moment. This may not entirely be a positive thing, however, if history is anything to go by. As the quant has highlighted in the chart, the BTC rally that started in April 2019 topped out just as the supply in profit hit the same high levels as right now. Similarly, the local top in 2020 at the beginning of the last bull market also coincided with these levels. The reason behind this pattern is likely to be the fact that investors in profit are more likely to sell their coins at any point. Thus, when a large percentage of holders are carrying gains, the probability of a mass selloff can spike up. Related Reading: XRP Forms Buy Signal, Analyst Predicts Surge To This Target That said, in the 2017 and 2021 bull runs, as well as during the November 2021 peak, the indicator did manage to surpass these levels for a while before the top was encountered. As such, it remains to be seen if the current rally is similar to the likes of the April 2019 run, in which case a top might be hit here, or if it’s a proper bull run, meaning that there might still be a while to go before the peak. BTC Price At the time of writing, Bitcoin is trading around the $56,500 level, up 8% over the past week. Dogecoin TD Sell Signal Goes Off, But Heres Why Parabolic Bull Run Can Still Continue

Dogecoin has just showed a Tom Demark (TD) Sequential sell signal, but an analyst has explained how the parabolic run could still continue for DOGE. Dogecoin Is Currently Showing A Pattern Similar To Previous Bull Runs In a new post on X, analyst Ali Martinez has discussed about a TD Sequential signal that has formed for Dogecoin’s weekly price recently. The “TD Sequential” refers to a technical analysis (TA) indicator that points out locations of probable tops and bottoms in a given asset’s price. This indicator involves two phases: the setup and the countdown. During the first of these, candles of the same color are counted up to nine. Once the nine candles are in, the setup is said to be complete, and a reversal in the asset may be expected. Related Reading: Ethereum Open Interest Sets New Record, Analyst Says Fireworks Guaranteed Naturally, the price would start heading down if the candles leading up to the setup’s completion were green, while it would catch an updraft if the candles were red. As soon as the setup is over, the countdown begins. This phase of the indicator works similarly to the setup, except for the fact that it lasts for thirteen candles. After these thirteen candles are also in, the asset may be considered to have arrived at another likely point of turnaround. Dogecoin has recently completed the TD Sequential phase of the first type, as the below chart for its weekly price shared by the analyst highlights. As is visible in the graph, Dogecoin has finished the TD Sequential setup with nine green candles, which implies the indicator has just given a sell signal for the memecoin. Considering the indictor’s history, it’s possible that this would lead to a drawdown for the asset. That said, history would also inform us of another thing, as Martinez has highlighted in the chart. It would appear that during each of the last two bull runs, DOGE observed a similar TD Sequential setup in the initial leg of the rally as the one witnessed recently. These signals led into declines for the coin, but the bearish momentum didn’t last very long on either occasion, as the rally renewed each time after a temporary setback. Related Reading: Glassnodes Bitcoin Seller Exhaustion Indicator Just Flashed A Signal: Bottom In? If this trend is to go by, it’s possible that the latest TD Sequential sell signal may also prove to be only a minor obstacle on the way up for the cryptocurrency’s price. From the graph, it’s also visible that the last two Dogecoin bull runs both fit neatly into an ascending parallel channel. The channel has also continued to hold in the current cycle so far, meaning that if DOGE is going to rise all the way toward its upper channel, it might break through the $14 mark. It only remains to be seen, though, whether the asset would repeat the pattern or if this cycle is going to be different from the last two. DOGE Price Dogecoin has hit the snooze during the last couple of weeks as its price has continued to move sideways around the $0.41 mark. Featured image from Dall-E, charts from TradingView.com
